I dont know if that would hold up well. Using a lug wrench or whatever would probably just chip the paint off. No harm in trying and reporting back though.

I know you can buy colored ones

sand a nd a few coats should work fine, just make sure you give thm a few days for the paint to harden as much as it can don't just go throw em together the naxt day.

also when tightening them, tighten from the back and put saran-wrap over the painted bolts.

^^^ this...but not sure how much sanding you can actually do ...maybe a real good cleaning ( like soak in degreaser of some sort ) and then an adhesion promoter....

or you could get'em plated, powdercoated

Highly doubt anything you do is going to stand up to the wrench

I know what I did my style 5 and style 19 bolts, I gave them a good cleaning, two coats of primer and three coats of paint. Then I let them dry for a weekend. They're also splined in tho so nothing touches the head of the bolts when you go to tighten them, its all from the back.

If you cant tighten them from the back like Madface said, try using painters tape on the head of the bolt and then tighten them. The worst thing that could happen is you would chip the paint.
