  • So I got my alignment but....

my car pulls to the left now!
The mechanics told me its cuz of my uneven tire wear, and that it should be fine when i change my tires.

Apparently my front wheels toed out (which makes sense, because i was killing tires like crazy)

My car ran straight before i brought it in, but after they fixed it, it pulls left now.

Ive never heard of a car that ran less straight after alignment...
My car ran straight even with 4 brand new tires before...

Maybe it'll get better after i wear the tires down more on my newly straightened wheels?

I'm not sure what to do.
After the alignment and the guy took the car for a drive, he came back and told me it pulled to the left.
I talked to them for a bit and they told me there was nothing they could do, and assured me it was the tires.
Then after I left, I called them agian, and they told me that Audi doesnt allow for any adjustments, and that after new tires I would run straight agian...
They had a laser alignment machine, but they didnt use it for my car... so i wasnt able to get any printouts...
Maybe they thought my car was too low to get on the machine?

    What do you guy think?

It sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. That's my opinion. That's wierd that your car pulls to the left unless that side is toed out more with more negative camber on that side. What specs did you have the shop align it to?

they set my rear at -2 degrees camber and 1/4" toe

fronts... they left at -1 degrees camber and not sure about the toe

      heres their website... http://valleypacific.com/
i just wish they put me on their laser alignment so i can be sure that everything was right

hmmmm, I would have done the same and kept calling them like "are you sure" My first thought is they are lazy, but if the assured you, and kept reassuring you then I guess I'd believe them too, just doesn't seem to make sense. I mean "concept wise" I guess it could pull to the left if it was off before and your tires are now worn THAT uneven, but still. When was the last time you flipped your tires? If you have virgin outers then I'd say it's worth a flip and see. Then if it still pulls take it right back to them...

i just called again, he said that they didnt use the laser alignment because my cars too low.
he assured me it wasnt human error... and it seems like they have a pretty good reputation...

so i dunno, maybe i'll just have to tough it out till i get new tires??

          sighhhhhhhhh

Gotcha. The pull gets too annoying or your left for arm starts to look like Popeye then you know what to do

Off topic, your car is in the latest issue of Bimmer! It's in an ad for MRR wheels, the shot they used is sick.

Unless its a car that looks just like yours with the same wheels

I would just ride it out until you get new tires or take it to your local indy shop and have them check out the alignment. Maybe they left a tie rod loose or something. I would honestly have it double checked just so you know if its not the alignment or a "loose connection" and then you can get new tires from there.

uneven tire wear will definitely affect how the car tracks. He probably set the toe to factory specs, but since you've been driving unaligned for a while you wore the tires down unevenly. When you buy new tires you should get it aligned again on the new tires, and try to drive on them as little as possible before you get aligned.

i do alignments all day, everyday... what you can try to do is swap out your wheels for your stockers and see if it pulls... sometimes a certain wear pattern is worn/warn (whatever) into the tire from camber/toe. these can actually pull your car left or right, it can be a slight pull, or hard pull.

i got a 06 a3 lowered on ksport coilovers... got everything to within factory specs, sort of., everything except from camber. front camber is at -1.2*, toe is in spec, caster is the same from left to right. rear camber is -1.7*, toe is in spec. car goes completely straight with stock wheels.

also got a 95 q45, slammed with 19's. front camber is at -2.9*, toe in spec, caster even left/right. rear camber is -3.9*, toe in spec. now i got mad camber wear in the front, and it pulls right. i did an alignment on it, set everything to the above, and it still pulled to the right. i can hold the wheel staight and the car will go staight, once i let go itll pull to the right. i swapped my 19's out with my stock wheels that have to uneven wear a lot of tread life and it goes completely straight without my hands on the wheel.... they call this a radial pull, it in the tires. we diagnose this by rotating the front tires left to right, and if the pull follows-problem is the tires. you can also do it from front to back...
                              \

no car is too low, they probably was just lazy.... and a printout should be given, for all you know, they didnt do an alignment and just took your money....
