  • Sandwich Mounting OZ Futuras

I tried searching but I couldn't find any topics on my question.

My questions is can I sandwich mount my 18" OZ Futuras? They came with the faces being rear mounted.

Is there anything special I need to do to sandwich mount the faces to the lips and barrels??

    Thanks in advance.

Yes they need to be machined on both sides so that they can properly sandwich mounted. Yours likely are only machined on the front side of the face because they were rear mounted

What needs to be machined exactly?

The the only difference between the front on the faces and the backs is that the front has edge the tapers. Like "beveled" edge kinda. Is that how the backs of the faces need to be machined?

It sounds like you need to take or send them to someone who knows how to do this. It can be done but you cant just take them apart and bolt them together like that.

I plan on taking to Wheel Flip here in SoCal, I was just wondering if I could sandwich mount the faces because I want to widen the wheels as much as possible.

You could sandwich mount after machining, but will be left with less than half an inch thickness, so you your wheels would go from say 9" to 9.35"

I always found it odd that futuras are rear mounted but fittipaldis which are basically the same wheel were factory sandwhich mount.

Not only fittipaldi, but some 17'' Futura are also sandwich mounted like Porsche 928 8,5x17 and 9x17

Koenig Special 18s, which are essentially the same wheel as Futuras, were sandwich mounted so that's why I ask. That's why I'm a little confused.

Some are sandwich some are rear mounted on any of those wheels. I have a few sets of fittipaldis and two sets of small face futuras and there are both scenarios for each

There's a register on the outside and on the inside, its like a machined bevel that the lip sits into.

See how the lip sits flush on the inside. You need to machine that if it doesn't have it.
