  • Bbs rs et

I am building a set of BBS RS 16" wheels for my BMW E30 M3. I would like to get as close as possible to factory specs for BMW 16" wheels. Size was 7.5 inches with a 27 ET. What would I have to do to achieve that set up or get close to it. 16 x 8s will work as will 7s with spacers.

For an e30, those wheels will fit very well. they will tuck in fact. Especially in the case of an m3. I would test fit them if I were you as these will fit without issue

Assuming from the way you're describing what you want to achieve - that being, to have the wheels stick out just as far as they would on a factory E30 M3 with 7.5J ET27 - you have to understand something first: A 7.5J ET27 would stick out less than a 8J ET27.

If you wanted a 8J wheel to stick out as much a 7.5J ET27 it would have to have ET33.

          Anyway, as for your options:

For every half inch you increase the inner barrel in width you add roughly ~6mm to your ET.

Meaning, if you'd check what size your barrel is now, get a new one that is half an inch bigger you be landing at 7.5J ET17. This would give you the same width as the factory setup but not ET.

In order to get as close as possible you would have to make your lip half an inch smaller and your inner barrel a full inch bigger. That would result in 7.5J ET29.
