hi guys i hope im posting in the right place as im quite new to the site after looking at some cars on here im loving the wider stance look my prob is measuring up for the wheel spaces and wounder whats the best way to get the size i need ive measured from the middle off the wheel arch to the top/middle off they tyre but watch some u tube vids its saying its the wrong way and i should measure where the wheel is close,est to the front off the wheel arch and to the rear can anyone help me the best way to try and get it right or any pic for the best place on the wheels to the arch to measure thank u sorry to trouble anyone on here

I want to put wheel spaces on my car to space the alloy wheels closer to the wheel arches to give it a wider look what is the best way to measure the gap to give u the size off alloy wheel spaces/shims i need (eg) 20mm 25mm do i take the measurements from the top off the tyre or what what is the best way to get the right measurements how hard is this to under stand it says the same thing in my first post

If you know the specs of you wheels put them in here http://www.willtheyfit.com/
Then change the offset from eg 30 to 20 they tell you how much/less more they poke out.

You measure out from your tire in a horizontal direction to the first place they will hit the fender. That measurement is the max you can go before you start rubbing the tire on the fenders, so anywhere between 0 and that number will work.

OP! Use a ruler and measure from the tyre, or if you have stretched tyres, from the wheel lip or whatever part that will hit the arch first. Keep the ruler horizontal and measure to the inner side of your wheel arch/fender.
There's a lot of info on this around and is easier to search for it than ask. That's why you will get smart replies.

I can not under stand why ppl are saying that they can not get what im saying when people have posted up what im after , And that is how to measure up for wheel spaces/shims , E,G the right way to measure do i measure at 12oclock on the tyre to the inner lip on the are or at say 10oclock on the tyre to the inside lip on the arch and so on,,, how hard is this to get. But on another note thank u to the few people that have posted up sort of what im after thank u

the silver vectra with the candy purple alloy wheels on is my car and im wanting the wheels to sit like in the other pic buy useing alloy wheel shims/spaces i dont want wider wheels i want to make them sit like in the second picture
