  • splitting 3 piece wheels.

So i bought a set of trafficstar DTX. they say they are 3 piece wheels that are welded not sealed.

im in doubt if i wanna start on this. i really want bigger outer lips because right now its just not any lips at al on the fronts.

specs are 20x9 et 42 and 20x10 et 47 ish.

so, onto the real deal: is there anyone who have experience with splitting 3 piece welded wheels. haven't really looked real good into the weld. some people say its a type of quick weld that can be heated and pealed of.

I'm working 1 week of and on so i barely got to take a look at them the day i got them since i went to work the same day.

That looks like a serious weld.
You will most likely need to get them on a lathe.

it is. but if you look on the inside there is a small gap. like 1mm +/-
so i think when the weld is gone they should let go easy. by my own calculating.

      a lathe?

        A machine that cuts.

Try to take these to a machine shop.
