  • newb to stretched rubber

    i drive a saab...i know lame.

i finally sold my old wheels and am picking up some 18x8.5's

    need to order tires asap.

id like some mild stretch, nothing crazy, but enough you can see it a little.

im trying to decide what size tire, ive been thinking about 225/40 or 45? either falken fk452's or rt615's. the "recommended" size for an 18x8 is 215/40

will either of those show any stretch at all?

the 215 will show some stretch....the 225 will probably not @ all...i've seen 225 on 9's that don't looked very stretched....

215 is a decent stretch i know, but i dunno i trust the local tire shops with that much stretch.

anyone have any pictures of 215/40 other than whats on tyrestretch?

honestly its a small amount of stretch compared to some others...we all know that 215/35's can go on 10"s...so 215/35 or 40 on 8.5 should be okay for anyshop...i've had a reg. shop do 215/35 on 9" soo you'll be alright

                  here ya go

Just stretch as much as you need. I've had cheap 225/40s on 18x8.5s and they didn't stretch at all. Ive also had fuzion 225/40s on 8.5s and the stretch was a lot more.

*ouch* 5x110 FTL, I share the same bolt pattern....saab drivetrain in a Saturn, go figure?

                      I had 215/40s on 18x8.5s, falken 912s I believe....

Very moderate stretch at most...I kinda wish I had went with a 215/45 though, tiny sidewall is a bit harsh.

I'm running 215/35/19 452s on 19x8.5 and it gets the job done.

is your car lowered or stanced? if not there's no point in stretching the tires...
