  • Need some help from the stretchperts!

Hey guys Im new here and Ive got some issues that Im trying to work out. I own a mkv vw GTI and i've got some wheels 18x9 and 18x10 (work equip mesh) and I wanted to run 205/40/18 up front and 215/40/18 for the rear. I was pretty set on that stretch because I want to go low on coils and try not to rub as much as possible.

Here is the problem Im living in Germany (stationed at Spangdahlem AB) and the tire shops are all looking at me like im crazy telling me that will never work blah blah blah. I know it will but they are telling me the smallest they can do is 215/40 up front and 245/35 in the rear. 245 is to meaty and will definitely munch my fenders. Im going to take my business elsewhere but here is what they told me "if you wheel had another lip on the painted side for the wheel to seat it would be easier" What they mean is the black powdercoated side doesnt have an indention like the inside of the wheel.
Im pretty sure that does not play into how the bead will seat so that is why they lost me as a customer...

Anyone have any ideas on how I could talk the next place into hooking this up for me and stop being scared to push the limit...

    wheels in question...

you just need to find a shop out there that knows how to stretch. 215 on a 10 is going to be hard to get to pop on. Good luck

easier said than done! The German TUV rules keeps most from running things like this so they look at me like Im crazy. Your right I just need to find the right place...I posted on a German VW forum in the regional forum so hopefully someone can help.

Just ask shop to put tires on rims and then stretch them yourself. It's really easy.

        Here is few videos:

I stretched some 215/45 on 17/9J by using hair spray

I don think a shop will be able to stretch 215 on 10 i tried myself me and my friend used 2 cheeta machines to mount some 215 on 10s never worked. I would suggest some 225 and 235 or 225 all around..

Yeah not totally comfortable with the redneck brake cleaner way....I realize it works and all but yeah...no I think 225/35 would be fine all the way around and still allow me to get the drop I want so I may try and talk them into it.
