  • Daily Driving Stretch on an 8

Ok so I'm currently rocking 195/50/15s but I really need more stretch to go lower.

Im considering 165/50s but Im not sure if it'll be too much stretch to safely drive daily on. I drive my car alot and mostly on the expressway so I dont really like the idea of a blow out.

The real problem is that I cant really find any cheap(ish) tires in any other sizes in between the 195/50 and the 165/50.

Any input on this? Anybody drive hard on 15x8s with 165/50s?

Why are you guys trying to stretch tires on such narrow wheels? Unnecessarily stretching on thin wheels just looks off imo and driving a car hard with a tiny contact patch like a 165 just seems like a poor idea

Depends on the car if it is a bad idea or not. 8" is not a narrow wheel on most FWD cars like older civics and jettas. I have 15x8 with 165/45 on my VW Caddy and I daily drive it. Granted the wheels have only been on two weeks but I have had zero problems.

True 8" isn't necessarily a small wheel, I was thinking I was on Vortex in the MK4 forums lol

Why not go with a 45 series and help the stretch.

I dont think 195/45 is really gonna be enough of a difference from the 195/50 I have now. I have clearance issues and more camber is really out of the question.

Also, MINIs cant run wheels much wider than 8" unless you want ridiculous amounts of poke.

But with our MINI's we can't roll the fenders. What offset are your 8's? You could do a 165 I suppose. Go with Falken 512's if you do and if they have them. Try a 45 series.

you could do 175/50s from nexen...not the best tire from an aesthetics point of view but...gives you a bit more stretch than the 195/50....
