  • Tires and load rating

Hey SW. Running into a bit of an issue with DiscountTire while trying to order some tires for my E36.

The tires in question are these: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...0&rd=17&cs=205

I'm looking for 205/40/R17's, or 215/40's if I must. The problem I was running into was the load rating was too low for my car according to DT, and they were not willing to sell them to me because of that. Anyone ran into this issue before, or can you recommend me a tire that has a higher wear rating than 84?

Last time I purchased tires through TireRack, and bought Fuzion HRi's in 205/40/17, and they have the same load index rating as the Falkens. Anyone ever ran into issues with that load rating? The DT rep explained it as a safety hazard and I'd have a high chance of a blowout, but I'm not sure if that's the case.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

EDIT: According to DiscountTire's site, an 84 load rating supports 1102lbs, and the curb weight of the E36 is less than 4,000lbs. I don't think I'll have any issues, but I'm still curious as to why they were having an issue selling me the tires.

Take the wheels in not mounted to a car, and don't give them vehicle info while ordering... or give them fake info for a vehicle that would use that size.

I just ended up going through TireRack and not giving vehicle info. Paid a little more, but oh well, I need tires.
