I'm curious, what do you guys think looks better? 18s or 17s? Personally I like 17s on E36s but I was thinking about it today.

E36 Wheel Diameter?

18s, when done right - meaning really low profile tires lke 215/35/18 - gives the same wheel diameter as a 17 with 215/40/17.
However, most people don't do 18s right. They use too high of a sidewall, which makes the wheels huge and any kinds of low not possible.

It`s like e30`s....16" RS`s are perfect, 17`s are okay too but 16 is where it`s at.
And the E30's 17'' are perfect. The 16'' are Too small to fill the fender imo, you need to much of an tyre.
Examples
On16'' He couldn't go any lower. Notice the fender gap.
And on 17''. This is perfect imo.
And on 18''. Very very well played.

@Zic, I agree with you on a lot of your points, the 17`s can look great. But the car you posted could`ve gone lower (probably with different coils) here`s a few examples of how smaller wheels can look cool on e30`s.....
sorry for going off topic...
