  • 205/40R18 on an E39...would it be safe??

Hey guys, just like the post says....would a 205/40R18 be safe to run on an E39? I am shopping for tires for my M-Pars and everywhere they refuse to sell me tires because I tried running a 215/35R18. The tire will be going on a 8J wheel. According to the tire place, they said the 215/35 tires cant support the weight of an E39 cuz its too small. So i ask you guys, what about a 205/40. I want stretch, but nothing crazy as i daily this car and roads here are f-up.

please help a stretch-newbie as i plan to order my tires by the end of this week...

    thanks guys

Is it ok to run a 40 series tire on the rear and a 35 series tire on the front?

That's getting short for an e39, why don't you run a 215/40? A 205/40 can easily support the car though.

What width on a 40 profile? Im running 245/35 and from the rear it looks ok, any skinnier and it looks rubbish on a 39.

Well i was planning on running 225/40R18 in the rear. my rear wheels are 9.5j, i figured it would give me a good stretch, nothing too crazy, and still give the wheel some sort of protection or cushioning while driving....

my plan was to run a 215/35 in front and a 225/40 in rear. would that cause me any problems? or will the car just look plain funny?

That would cause no issues at all dude, just the rears are too skinny I think on a big car.

That Bryson guy on here with the white E39 on 17'' Style 5's is running 205/40 square!

                Why would you run a 205 on a 5-series? I don't even feel right doing it on a 3-series...

I have 225 40 in the rear, 205 40 fronts to help with rubbing once I toss the front spacers back on.
