to split a lip from a barrel I cut a 4x4 about 1/2" shorter than the space between the lips where the tire fits.
I stick the 4x4 between the rim lips and use a prybar to lever the lip from the barrel. I lever a bit and stick a screwdriver between in the crack and move the 4x4 and lever again in a different spot, jamming the screwdriver in further ...moving around as needed to split the parts.
I have done this with the wheel sitting on the ground or with the barrel clamped by the lips to a metal workbench.
worked fine with a BBS and an OZ wheel. no heating or an oven or going nuts with a hammer.

Sooooooo,
i've been lazy.., still have to take one of the centers out.., but they 're so shitty to split...
Tried to split the lips and barrels but had no luck...
How do you guys do this...
Just strip the clear off one of the lips...
That clear is some heavy shit, 4 times stripper, and still some spots left...

Sanded a li'l bit with 400...

Oxidation...

Scratch

How does this even happen?
Gettin' there...

I hope to be more productiv this weekend/next week...

The other two showed up this morning.
2 cracks, two missing badges overall pretty good imo...
That's the plan.., we'll seeOriginally posted by electricalbox View Post2,000 is very high even in pristine condition. Realistically I would value those around 500-600 with the crack in the barrel and their condition.
You got them for about a 1/3 of that which is a great deal, and with some good scrubbing and prep you can easily fix the crack and resell for 900-1,000 once you are done with them.
My toughts as well but, their at least a 2 piece model...Originally posted by 1badg35 View Postlooks like a 1 piece wheel to me... anyone else not see a face separation from lip? looks like someone taped them off and painted them a while ago
The paint is really bad, just taped off no clear coat...

The face is front-mount, also it follows the form of the lip as you see...

Pic from Sergay on here...

I know, i suck at taking pics...
P.s: Vincent did you receive my pm about the BBS-centers?Last edited by OrangeBlue; 08-07-2013, 01:25 PM.
