Now to get some adequate clearance between my IRS mounting bolt and the sidewall of the tire with the suspension unloaded, I'm going to need a spacer, somewhere in the vicinity of 1/4" to 3/8."
My dilemma-
At what point do you need a hubcentric spacer? Is there a rule of thumb for what is acceptable and what isn't? 1/4" definitely seems too thin to even offer a hubcentric, and 3/8" seems to be right on the cusp of where it would be come necessary. In fact I have found very few (ok, only seen one, LFP) 3/8" hubcentric spacers.
Where are the best sources for spacers? Forgive me, but spacers are one of the few things I haven't dabbled in. I could get some of the most obscure mechanicals, but I'm not too well versed in spacers.
Last, and this is really reaching, is there anyone out there running any sort of Ford axles/hubs? I'd like to know ahead of time if I will need longer studs to accommodate the spacer.
Thanks to all for any responses.
Hopefully this will be the ticket to fitting those massive 315s inside my wheelwells.
