  • Disassembled wheels: How do I clean my wheel hardware?

    Hi,

I disassembled my wheels and now want to have the hardware clean again. They're NOT all messed up or anything just a little dull.

I cant seem to find it but I think I've heard people put their hardware in vinegar or whatever to get them shiny again

    Wheels in question

If you do vinegar, the clear coat will come off. I messed up and did this to some nuts, had to paint them, or else they would rust.

Try some degreaser see how that works. Is your hardware polished or??

They might be coated.. i put my bolts too in vinegar and they had clear didnt seem like it. even on the threads a very light coat. Now im gonna have to get them plated.
You can try with one, just let it sit in vinegar for a couple ays and see.
Seen people polish their bolts all nice and then theyd rust over a lil time.

A sugestion would be, get them chrome plated. found a place that would do mine for 100 bucks. no need to worry about them getting rusty.

As they're still in pretty good shape i'm not gonna waste any money, i just decided not to buy new lips

I guess I'll try the simple cleaning with a degreaser

check with a magnet if they are stainless. stainless steel is not magnetic...or only slightly magnetic.

what do the bolts look like now ? chrome or polish ? what do you want them to look like ?
