Electroplating bolts and cleaning nuts.

Refinishing a set of style 5s and all i need is the bolts. In the meantime i just finished another set of style 19s .

1***I was gonna have the heads of the bolts powder coated with a transparent gold, theyre already cleaned and polished, was gonna have this done for 60 bucks, but think electroplating (gold) would be better. my 1st question is :. Is it possible to do the whole bolt or would it have to be just the heads?

2***I put the nuts in a cup with vinegar for a few days. it cleaned off the rust, but i wanna know what to do so the rust wont come back. Would it be better to just put wd 40? paint them (engine paint )or clear coat them?

What material are the bolts made of? I know my ksport coilovers came with this gel to rub on all exposed metal. You could probably source it from them for a couple bucks.

pretty sure they re made of steel.

you think that get would stay though. wont be able to see the back of the wheels where the nuts will be..

I assembled the wheels and clear powdercoated them. 3 years later they are fine. At a minimum paint them. The problem is you have to pound them in when reassembling and that may damage the paint. Plating is probably best, but if powdercoating after, make sure the plating can take the heat.
