Bbs style 19 lips

I picked up a set of bbs style 19's recently and want to re-polish the lips, the lips are in very good shape, just have very very minor scratches/markings on the lips due to general use and how they were shippped, everywhere online i see wheels in poor condition starting at a 220 or 400 sand paper, would i still need start at that rough of sandpaper at well, im going for a mirror finish. Thanks

Look closely at the metal, there are still grooves in the lips that need to be sanded down.

So should what grade paper should i start at, and do i need to strip the lip down with cleaner as well ?

if its covered in a clear coat you should strip it with aircraft remover, if not start at 400 (depending on the state of the oxidization and how deep the scratches are) if its really bad start at 200 and work your way to 1500-2000 and then a polish.

Dont have any oxidation, just minor scratches on the lips, which arnt deep
