  • BBS E50 wheels help?

    Hello All,

    I have a 1979 Ferrari 512BB (also known as Boxer) and it currently sits on 15 x 7.5 and 15 x 9.0 wheels.

    I have found that during that time a popular wheel upgrade was the BBS E50 typically in 16 x 9.0 and 16 x 10.0 sizes.

    However -- I am not an expert in these wheels and have a bunch of concerns and questions:

    (1) the car has a center single knock-off nut; these wheels are 5-bolt setups;

    (2) I understand the spline adapter from the old wheels needs to be moved to the new wheels, where would I find info on whether these two are even compatible? I don't think the original wheels had a 5-bolt setup;

    (3) how are typically BBS wheels set up with these adapters? What hardware is used?

    Thank you all.

    Theres actually a whole subsection of this forum dedicated to just wheels. (<--- click "wheels" to go there) You will probably have better luck there. Dont be surprised if your post is moved there by a moderator. Good luck on your fact finding!

      I have seen numerous sets of E50's with centerlock faces.

      If you were to get a 5 bolt setup, you can get adapters made for centerlock. It's definitely been done before, however I'm not sure who readily makes those adapters, you'd probably have to get everything custom programmed and milled.

        beautiful car and those are beautiful wheels, I hope you find a set!

        There are also a lot of alternatives with similar looks from that era if you're unable to locate a set of e50s. Make sure you post pictures of whatever you do find!

          Thanks -- I need your help as I'm very confused about how these wheels are supposed to work...

          This is what I have seen for sale that supposedly fit the Ferrari Boxer...and this is the center of the wheel on my car.

          How do I get the wheel to go in there? :-)

          (as a side note -- the car center spindle has the threaded section on the outside -- this is for some knock-off nuts that I can reuse from the old wheels)
