  • Refinishing wheels with different bolts

I'm refinishing my Volk GT-30s, and when I purchased them a couple of bolts were missing and other have oxidized a little bit. I figure that while I have them apart I might as well go ahead and fully redo them, however I can't seem to find the bolts that Volk used originally, and they're pretty boring as well.

I was thinking about using some RS bolts to refinish my wheels. They're still M7, and are high quality in my experience with RSs in the past. Does anyone know anything that I'm not thinking about here that should stop me from doing this? Pic for fun.

I don't see why not. As long as they are long enough and fit snug in the holes.

They are bolts, its not rocket science.

Make sure they seat properly, have the correct/close enough length, shank diameter is correct, etc. Since I am guessing these are just normal nuts/bolts it doesn't really matter, if you started to get into splined bolts such as on RC090 it still is doable with RS bolts. The only time I would question it is if you are threading into a barrel that does not have exposed holes on the back, even then its just simple measuring and getting the correct thread pitch.

I sell the RS nuts and bolts for $1.25 each. They are chromed 10.9 hardness m7x31mm and made in Europe.

They wouldn't be able to balance the wheels so you might as well wait till you've got them totally together again

pretty sure he means tyres are already on there, he just wants to pull the faces to redo them

ive heard its fine as long as there is no air in the tyre. id probably only be doing it with 2 piece wheels, as 3 piece the tyre might still break the seal.

Given the pounding that these wheels have taken, i'm not too worried about the barrels/lips getting warped from having a tire on them. They are 2-piece wheels so no issues with breaking a deal between barrel and lip.

Just in case anyone is curious or searching for this in the future, I refinished my wheels w/ BBS RS bolts with no issues.

So it's M7 31mm bud? I'm in the middle of refinishing my gt7 and am in need of nuts and bolts . Maybe I would pick these up if it fits. Thanks
