  • Going for the gold (BBS Style 5)

I picked up a set of Style 5's and I am planning on polished lip and gold center. I was wondering if you guys had any specific shades, paint codes, etc that you would suggest.

I see a lot of gold wheels that are nearly bronze. That is not what I am going for. I am going for bright yellow gold, like actual nugget gold metallic.

I think anodizing would be ideal, I just haven't looked to find a shop that can handle that in my area (Dallas, TX).

Also, do you clear the polished lip or no?

Well, after searching for a few hours. I am almost 100% going gold anodized. And yes, you do clear the polished lip unless you want to be buffing your lips out all the time (that didn't sound quite right).

I will post pics when done.

It's not going to work with style 5s. The center caps are made of plastic.
      I dislike Byron.

I will say the only drawback with anodizing the same as powder coating is that its not as easy to retouch them up if you where to scratch/chip or flake bits off them or get any blemishes as it is with paint, although it is very hard wearing.

Part of the reason I will be using paint on my wheels, namely plastikote metallic gold, it is the 'truest' to the real thing as I have found so far without the need for special finishers.

Thanks for the insightful reply. I will look into the plasticoat, but I just dig the "metal" look of anodization.
