  • e21 guys chime in?

looking at putting some 16x8 on my newly acquired E21. I need to order some adapters for the wheels, wondering what I should do as far as fitment is concerned. looking around its tough to find any answers.

going dewalt low for now until I can build some coilovers in the coming months. was going to go around +0 offset all around, what do you e21 guys think?

Do you have a FACTORY rim, or a rim you know the specs on? Go from there. that's the easiest. or if you can test fit a rim (Even only being held on by a bolt or two is fine) just to get an IDEA of what you can run. It's a visual helper, and it'll help you see how big/wide of a rim you can run. And what offset.

i do have the wheels. et is 23, but i know im going to need zero, or maybe a negative offset to pull them off. the issue with a test fit is 4 lug (car) vs 5 lug (wheel).

et0 on an 8" wide wheel with stock fenders is fairly aggressive. Probably won't poke. I'd space the rear a little more than that IMHO.

I've test fit a 4 lug on a 5 bolt car. like I said, test fit it even with one or 2( go for 2 if possible) just to get full load on the wheels and measure out your space available.

You're talking to a guy who made a mock up spacer out of wood. And watch who you're calling an idiot.

Okay, well I just figured you were trying to be, "One of those guys" that's all like, "IF ALL THE BOLTS AREN'T ATLEAST 8 FULL TURNS IN IT'S ILLEGAL!" Or some dick rider shit like that.

one bolt will be odd because the wheel will slip up until the centerbore is resting on the hub of the car. This would skew your results a little bit. Probably not enough to make a difference, but it does apply some funky loads to the lug bolt.

All he really needs to measure is height clearance, and width, not so much back and forth. Although 1/2" maximum wouldn't really change much for front to back of car. he could just bolt the bottom most bolt so its' on the bottom of the car, trying to get as dead center as possible.

thanks guys. I may be picking up a set of used 25mm for a good price. so they will sit at -2 all around. hoping this will be good for now. may try to do some test fitting in the next few days.
