I got new bolts for my RS last year, I'm taking them apart again this winter. Is it safe to re use the old bolts? Or should I just get new ones

Reusing bolts

I was about to post up the same question.
I've got OZ bolts I want to re-use, have been told the bolts are stretch bolts and shouldn't/can't be re-used? I don't know how much a bolt stretches with the low torque value's their tightened to?

That is correct, most of these are stretch or torque to yield bolts, but I have reused bolts many times as well as bought all new bolts with the same results. If the bolts were torqued properly to spec and not overtightened by the previous owner you won't have any problems.
I have even had a set on used bolts used for 2 years, I would recheck all the bolts every 3,000 miles or so for the first year to make sure they didn't come loose, and none ever backed out. Locktite is definitely a good way to help ease the mind worrying about them backing out.

Ive reused bolts a bunch of times, and yes most wheels don't need to be torqued to crazy specs because the bolts are so small. Like its been mentioned as long as you don't over tighten them you'll be fine. I've yet to see a bolt back out and my friend has done his oz at least 3 times and never changed bolts. I know some people won't agree to this but there's anywhere from 30-40 bolts per wheel with loctite and then silicone holding everything else even if a bolt should break you'd never notice. Hell, ive seen people that reverse mount faces on oz pegasus unbolt the faces with the tires still on and the silicone by itself holds everything together. Not saying they aren't important or should be taken lightly but unless its stripped cross threaded or broken, I'm reusing them.

Ive seen horror stories and pictures of kinesis and fikse wheel bolts literally exploding out of the wheel assembly on porsche track cars. If you plan on tracking your wheels i would say replace everything, but if theyre for street use you can get away with re-using the same bolts over and over again.
