  • keeping center caps?

hey all, I just acquired a set of volk mesh wheels. they have centercaps very similar to bbs wheels.

someone has stolen the center logos already, but I am more concerned that once they are refinished someone will take the whole cap and waffle? anybody have anything to combat this? I could just take em off every time i park but that is kind of a bother. or i could put the center nut on incredibly tight but I don't know if that would be worth the effort. the caps also don't have anywhere to put a tamper proof screw so I'm stuck.

    Any ideas, tips, or suggestions?
    thanks in advance

Put some metalglue on the threads and tight them...

Maybe you can weld a nut on the rim and put a screw through the center cap...

what i could think of is buying one of the BBS hex wrench tools and cranking it nice and tight using that so it cannot be undone easily by hand or without a big adjustable wrench. To make it a bit harder again you could put some thread locker on the threads. It wont 'stop' it altogether but will make it harder to do..

haha i know your worry OP, the most recent set of wheels i bought came with a horror story of "someone stole all my center caps while i was at a movie". My wheels are also volks and the center caps are stupidly rare and expensive to replace (doesn't help that my CV-Pro / GTCs are discontinued now though).

I would think, for access to your lugs, that you wouldn't want to glue them down unless you had a tool to get them off with. you might be able to drill through the cover and drill and tap into the wheel so you could put a security bolt on there.

what i'm currently looking to do is mold some replacement caps so i can color match them and if i lose them i'll have extras haha. Once i get around to making them i'll post them up

Haha ya even just the center logo is ridiculously hard to find. I was thinking about making a mold of the waffles, the center bolt I figure might be a little more difficult. I think that would probably be the best idea so far tho. Thanks! Look forward to seeing how the mold comes out
