  • caught my self in a big mistake when building my wheels help!!!!

hey guys so i was finishing my wheels and i noticed i had mounted the faces wrong, i had mounted the sandwhich mount faces from the back. and the faces that drop from the back sandwhich mounted. i literally caught it as i finished the third wheel im going to take it to a place where they specialize in wheels because i dont have time to re split, remount and reseal. hopefully thet can reuse my bolts since i bought new gold bolts and i used locktight. my question is what would of happened if i didnt notice and i rode on the wheel like that? and do you guys think the bolts will be able to be reused

you should be able to reuse the bolts still. but recommended to use a little less tq when tightening them back up again, to prevent the bolt from stretching and snapping.

Don't know what wheels you have, but probably nothing would happen. People have taken sandwich mounted wheels and face mounted them without any major issue. Rear mounting should be along the same lines. I have a buddy with a face mounted rs set that has been running them like this for a few years now.

Did the face have a deep enough setback that the face wasn't pushed back a few mm when you rear mounted it? Most would be very noticeable if you rear mount, as the face would look like it was sitting too far back and you would see the edge of the bolt ledge of the lip

sounds like you just answered your own question.

if the face looks like its not sitting properly on the lip and barrel, i wouldnt put the weight of a car on it.

Ok thank you just wondering I'm taken them to be mounted right since I don't have time to redo them all again but you live and you learn
