Fender Flares?

I just put on the XXR530 17x8.5 and 17x9.75 on my miata with 215/40/17 up front and 225/40/17.
I adjusted my raceland coilovers pretty high so i dont destroy my new tires right now because they rub.
If i get the fenders rolled and pulled out some will i be able to tuck a little tire or do i need to do fender flares and cut the excess fender off under the flares?
I need some advice on this.
