  • Bolt holes too narrow

Hey guys! Had a quick question to quell my excitement till after finals, I picked up a set of Enkei (92s?) in 4x108 for a 1990 Saab 900, which uses lug bolts, not studs.

So I have 2 questions, fisrt the bolts are too big to fit in the holes (not the socket, the bolt itself. If I take the time to figure out the bolt difference and use a drill press can I just drill the holes bigger? I am sure it is a big no no in the wheel community but I just don't know.

Second, saabs use a locating pin which is easy enough to remove, but makes locating the wheel SO easy,so again if I line it up mark it right and use a drill press could I just drill out the hole in the new wheels so I could use the locating pin?

And because pictures always make thread better!

    Thanks!
    Alex

I am pretty sure you are using 14mm diameter lugs on a 12mm shank lug holes. Use a press and a 5/8ths drill bit on a press to open them up (measure them first, I am just relating common experiences on most wheels that face this problem). As for the locating pin I have no experience, but I would advise against drilling a new hole into the wheel.

Thanks for the response! Those numbers sound right from what I have been reading, I really need to get myself a set of calipers and a new metric measuring tape..

Also some perspective, got these wheels for stupid cheap and prob don't ever plan on selling them so I am not super worried about 'ruining' the wheels in other peoples, just curious about making them work for me safely.

And the locating pin is alil smaller than the threads on a 10mm bolt.
