  • Splitting RH ZW4's

I plan on splitting my RH ZW4's this winter and fix a few issues.. I've never personally split a multipiece wheel and figured I would come here to find out and ask a few questions.. I have searched and didn't see any threads or comments relating to my issues.

2 of the wheels have slight air leaks and its only noticeable since colder weather (Below 50 degrees) has set in here in South Carolina which isn't cold at all but its enough to make me notice this issue.. I have dunked both wheels in soapy water and neither of them show any signs of leaks on either bead, valve stems or the split between the face and lip.

Once they are split I plan on cleaning all mating surfaces as well as the bead seat to ensure that no "trash" has been left behind.

As far as sealant goes I've read and spoke with a few people that have used plumbers cement, RTV, permatex, clear silicone.. What would give me the best results for a 2 piece wheel, and from what I've seen the barrel and face are one piece and the lip bolts to the face which leaves me curious as to what sealant to use.

    The Wheels:

    Thanks in advance - Kyle
