Tire size for 8.5" tire

Well im in a little dilemma right now, the wheels are getting new tires...the wheels are 8.5 and 9.5 in the rear...but my problem is that they are 18s...
so the rears are getting 215 45 18 (512s)
but i dont know what to get for the fronts, id get like 205 45 but they dont make those for 18s, only for 17s...i was thinking maybe 215 35 18?
suggestions?

You need 215/40/18's for the rear (215/45 is for 17's on a MK4).

215/35/18 would be fine up front, but you also may want to look for 205/40/18.

damn, 215/35s are not what im looking for either then...i like the way that mk2 sits...195/40 on 8.5 but thats an impossible size for 18s once again...
damit..might hve to go with 215 35...there isnt really any other option it seems like

205mm is 205mm. The visualization of "narrower" is just the way the sidewalls are constructed.

215/35/18 is a tiny tiny tire for a MK4. 205/40/18 or 215/40/18 are your best bets. I know Nitto makes a 205/40 and a Falken 512 215/40 is small for a 215/40 (yes, Cal, I know a 215 is a 215 ) so it should be pretty good too

Right, but what I'm saying is there is no "small/medium/large" 205/40/18. A 205/40/18 is a 205/40/18.

yes, i have 215/35/18 on my winter setup :p and they are tiny

i didnt really want to get half nitto and half falken...might have to go 215/40 all aoround
