  • 2012 Focus Hatch wheel help?

I'm getting a 2012 focus this weekend and will be looking into wheels immediately. I think I want to go with 17's but am still a little undecided because I have yet to see many of these and the one I really like is tucking tire, something I am not after with this car.

I'd like to run a bit wider wheel, something in the 8-8.5 range is possible but have no idea on the specs I should be looking for. I've been a toyota guy with minitrucks and I know just about everything about them....these focus'...not so much. Any help is appreciated.

I'm guessing Jon's car is the one you were referring to:

      2012 Focus SEL

      Mods/How I made it work

      19x9 Land Rover HSE wheels
Bolt pattern of 5x120 ET53 215/35 tires. I measured and decided a 19mm front and 23mm rear adapter would put the wheels where I wanted, with enough clearance. My fenders where rolled by me, pretty aggressively. I purchased my own fender roller to do it. No you can not borrow it. I have a set of SPC camber arms, but they are not on, I have 3.2 degrees of natural camber and that was enough.

BC Coilovers (Made for a MazdaSpeed 09-11), I borrowed a friends Mazda suspension to make sure it fits. It does, but the coils made for a mazda do not go that low on a focus. I ordered custom 135mm/10k front springs for the coilovers straight from BC. They are the stiffest BC recommends on their coils. I also removed the pillowball topmount and replaced it with the stock top hat. This gave me more low. I am all the way down on the BC's now. I am also running BMW E46 swaybar endlinks because they are little longer and fit better.
I think 17s on a Mk3 are going to look tiny, I'd suggest 18s as I think they fit the car much better.

You're looking at 9" wheels with a final ET of 34 front and 30 rear so you've definitely got options. 18x8.5 or 18x9 (if not wider) should work great, depending upon how low you want to go you can stick to a 215/35/18 or a 215/40 for a bit more sidewall.

Yes. That car. Gorgeous, but not the look i'm after. I want just the slightest bit of poke and a nice elegant wheel. I don't want to be completely slammed, my truck already is, but this is my daily to get to work. Something that HAS to be able to go when needed. I have some friends in town that can probably mount up a couple options but I need springs or coils first. Something to work towards.

Thanks for the tips, they are greatly appreciated.

Not a fan of that style wheel. I'd rather have something like the old Ronal R9's or similar. Whether it's "cool" or not really makes no difference to me...just like that style wheel on hard(ish) body line cars.

Mk2 Focus RS wheels would look great on the car but they're 19x8.5 et 60 so a bit too sunk in I believe.

Team Dynamics will make wheels to your spec and are awesome quality, especially for the price.
