So I have a question, is there such a thing as Enkei 98s that AREN'T welded together?

I've seen quite a few sets of Enkei wheels from that era but never anything that is a true 3 piece. Do you own a set, have you actually seen a set apart? Real talk and experience here, please no "my friend has some that he said he took apart and they're awesome, bro."

    Any help would be great.

                Yeah, I'm retarded.

I've already got Works, OZs, BBS, and others. I'm looking to expand the catalog to something else. If you're not going to help then kindly GTFO.

                Thanks sweetie.

Google it I found some pics but Im too lazy to upload them"enkei 98 3-piece".
I'm not sure if they started off as 2 piece thoo.
The rs suggestion was actually a good one as they are very similar and easier to come across in better sizes

i'll be nice because i like your car...

i have only ever seen them in welded 3 piece. considering no one has said that they have seen them split, i'm going to guess that chances are all of them were welded from the factory. i am way too lazy to research this considering i have no intention on buying a set, ever. you will have to pay a machine shop to cut the welds, then source lips/barrels that will fit. i doubt enkei carries them, considering they obviously didn't intend on them to be rebuilt...considering the fact that they welded them and all...

so you will have to find shells from other wheels that will fit.

all said and done you will be spending a fuckton of money on a set of wheels that look essentially exactly the same as rs's, except the centercap would say enkei. and if you ever bent a lip, you will be fucked if you had to have them custom made.although i see them sold left and right for under 300, you will be in pretty deep rebuilding them. and they will not be nearly as easy to sell as a set of rs's should you ever decide to switch it up.

Just picked some up for dirt 16x7 0 offset. Yes they are welded. I am told that Memory Fab can seperate and refinish for $150 a wheel... Based on what i got them for its not that bad considering they'd be a true 3 piece in the end, making them a very rare find!

RS's are beautiful, but who has a true 3 piece set of Enkei 98's? Hopefully i will soon. I'll get back to you when i know a bit more.

I have a set for my E28. They are welded. Here's what I learned when researching this very same question:

In the 80's Enkei made a set of modular wheels with different offsets/lip sizes, backspacing etc. They built batches of sets to the spec requested by vendors using modular pieces. But welded them as they were meant for road, not race cars. They are 3 piece wheels, that have been welded together.

As for my set, the amount of pieces to me is moot. They are the perfect size and offset for my car. Let's the people that don't know about these old wheels stay in the dark. These are strong, light wheels that have held up to the test of time.

I hope this thread isn't too old to bump up, but it's the most recent one I've found about these wheels.

I found a set I might jump on and restore. The seller is listing them as 2 piece, but here in this thread, they're called 3 piece welded. Pardon the noobness, but when 3 pieces are welded, the faces can still be unbolted, yes? I don't mind if they're 2 piece, but I just wanted to be sure.

                              Thanks
