  • Tyre size dilemma

Im in a big dilemma on which tyre sizes to go for. Car is a W124 and wheels are AMG OZ Racing 3-Piece split rims:

    8.5x17
    10x17

I don't know which tyre sizes to put on I am getting different answers from different people. These are the combinations available for me:

    8.5x17
    215/40/17, 215/45/17, 225/40/17, 225/45/17

    10x17
    235/40/17, 235/45/17

Tyre choice is Nankang NSII (for summer time only). Which is the best combination without it effecting the speedo?

    Thanks!

Affecting the speedo depends on what the original tire size was. Use Willtheyfit.com to find out what sizes you need. Tyrestretch.com is also a use full site.

I have no idea what a w124 is, but here are those sizes on a merc. seems to be the same judging by your avatar.

So in the end I went for the Falken 452 as they came recommended over the Nankangs. I went for 215/40/17 fronts and 245/35/17 rears as it keeps the rolling diameter pretty much the same.

Now here is the problem, I didn't factor in the rim protector and how it can increase the size/appearance of the tyre. The inside of the rim looks like a perfect stretch, exactly what I was hoping for. However on the outside, the rim protector sits outside of the rim itself making the tyre stick out more than I was hoping from the wheel arch.

The better option would have been the Toyo T1R's in the same size, but apparently they don't do it in a 245/35/17 anymore.

This is now really shitty and a big inconvenience as now I have to find a way to sell these rear rubbers and look into the whole thing again!

Anyone want a pair of Falken 452 - 245/35/17's? Brand new, just been put on the wheels but haven't been driven on yet.
