can a weld on aluminium lip be polished out?

I don't mean completly polished out, if an aluminium lip had a tig welded repair/modification and you ground it down flat and polished it, would it show up???

If it's a good weld you should have not problem polishing it out. People have lips cut/widened all the time and bring them back out to full polish.
