  • Help. Cant get my tires to seat on my new wheels. (205.40 on a 9 and 215/45 on a 9.5)

Ok So my wheels finally came home after being built for the last few months. I went out Saturday morning to get my tires mounted thinking it would be a easy thing like always (My last wheels had the same specs and tires sizes and had no issues) but thats was not the case.

I went to 3 different shops.
Using starter fluid and fire - No luck
Using a Cheetah - No luck
Using a bike tube to fill the space - No luck
Old fashion methods of just using air - we know that did not work.

Every time we used the cheetah it just blew the air right out and did not even try seat. The fire just became a huge fire ball. The nike tube just kept popping out before the tire could even seat. So after trying all day I called it quits as I was tired, pissed out and dying of heat since it was 100 out.

So I figured I would ask for anyone else input on this matter.
The big issue is that these wheels have double drop barrels. I have a huge gap between my tire and wheel. here some pictures to give you an Idea.

    Fronts

    Rears.

    The wheels...

Any help or info would be great. I just want to get these on my car finally.

no no, those should take about 10min for them all.
if the starter fluid only turns into a big ball of fire, then its because you don't use enough. you need to time it correctly with a air source.

I've explained this allot of times, and i don't want to now. Ill take a video of me doing it the next time. and explain as i go.

This. Take an air compressor line and extend the little nozzle with a long skinny pipe or something. Light it on fire, add compressed air. Boom.

It all has to do with how the barrel is. Did you try mounting from both ways? Like a cheetah from the face or from the barrel?

Sometimes flipping the wheel will help.

My 225/40 fit on my 18x11 with some cheetah finesse. That's not that extreme of a stretch dude you should have no problem.

I know this should not be so hard because my RS's had the same specs 9" and 9.5" with a 205/40 and 215/40 Falken 512's and it only took one hit with the cheetah to get them on.
It's the wheels profile which is making this so hard.

find a shop with a bead bazooka. mounted my 165/45's on 16/8.5's with ease. most places that do truck and off road tires have them.
doing it for the internet and the scene kids.

What we did was we used a spent tire tube to seat the tires.

mount the tires first, put the tube inside the tire and the rim, align and insert the air valves of the tube to the air valve of the rim, hold the airvalve with some longnose pliers and then inflate slowly, once you see that the sidewall of the tire is starting to expand, you can let go of the airvalve and let it inflate naturally. tell me how it goes mate.

we were able to mount 195/50/15 on 15x10, 15x9 , some 225/50/15 on 15x11 using this method, hope it works out for you as well.

acetylene/oxy. Heat the sidewall up for a while, dump some acetylene/oxy in the tire, light torch, KABOOM, good to go.
Brother and I got a 195/60 on a 10" like this, first try.

Either you have old/way too stiff tires, or it's the beadseat of the wheels not allowing the tire to seat properly. But given those are BEAUTIFUL wheels from Memoryfab, I'd assume they would've anticipated people stretching tires on them.
                              Hopefully you get this resolved.
