  • Tires with or without rim protection?

    I'm getting Nankang NS2 225/35-18 to fit a 9.75" rim.

Should I get the tires with or without rim protection?

Anyone have some pictures that shows the difference?

Pretty sure it wont matter when you are stretched.

hmm, the rim protector makes the tyre look very different: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/...jsp?techid=150

I found two pictures on tyrestretch.com, is my assumption correct:

      With rim protector: http://tyrestretch.com/9.5_225_45_R1..._512-2.jpg.php

      Without rim protector: http://tyrestretch.com/9.5_225_45_R1...umho-2.jpg.php

            If you can find them.

Falken 912's stretch really easily as well. Also they seem to be very durable. On the way to/from SoWo I had some rubbing issues and gouged my rear tires pretty good. They still hold air just fine and there isn't any nylon showing.

Has to be Nankangs NS2s, it's the cheapest decent tyre I can get locally.

But am I correct about the Kumho and Falkens?

Yes, the difference is noticeable, just pick the look you prefer. Remember not every tire stretches the same.

rim protection when stretching actually makes the rim sit out farther and "not become protected" but looks more stretched.

without rim protection it stretches pretty smooth. its all a different look

i hear good about Falken stretch. i did my two front tires with Falken 912's and man the side wall is soft(should stretch good)

That's why I made the topic, because I'm not 100% sure how a tyre without rim protection looks stretched.

So if anyone has a picture of a car with stretched tires without rim protection please post them here.
