  • Newbi offset help plz!

So I am looking to order a pair of new wheels in the next month or so. I drive a hyundai elantra 03 and the bolt pattern on it is 4x114.3 and i did the reasearch for the offset options and lowest i can go for offset is 38 or 36, i think 38. I would post some pics but everytime i do it never shows, idk why
But anyways... I was looking to get a pair of xxr 962 17x9 with a +35 offset. What do you guys think about that? Would that work fine? Also im going to order coilovers, but can I go as low as i really want with 17s? I was thinking some 16x8s but the offset for my boltpattern is like +20 and +0 and i dont think that will work at all. Well any advice you guys have will help. Or comments, or suggestions will be nice. Oh if you guys want my flickr account name is DYLAN_M22 and there are some pics of my car on there. Thanks!

16x8 et0 would only be 10mm wider than the 17x9 et35, I personally thing 16's would look small on your car, id go with the 17's

How did you come to the conclusion of the offsets that you can run?

Well when I have searched for rims before i put in the make model and year and it gives me a selection of rims. And the lowest offset it will give me to chose is 38, and just a little reasearch of people with the same car as mine.

Yea the recommended offset for a car and the offset that will get your wheels flush are very different. For example the recommended offset or the e36 Would be something like 17x9.5 +40 or something of that nature. I was running 17x9.5 +19 and that was less aggressive than many of the cars now.

Thats crazy less aggresive then cars now. Because that sounds insanly aggresive. When you fitted those wheels on your car did you have to pull or roll fenders or do anything else in order to fit those wheels?

And so you think the 17x9 with +35 will be fine?

If a 17x9 +35 is what they show as a fit for your car, they will fit with not much effort.

If you want something flush you will need to do some measuring and a flush setup will always require rolling the fenders.

Well thats the thing they have my bolt pattern which is good but it wasnt the sites where you put your car make year and model and it says it fits. All i searched was a pair of 17x9 with a bolt pattern of 4x114.3 and found the xxr's. But you know more than me so if you say they'll fit then im not worried. Thanks for all the help SeanDub!

I have no idea if they'll fit, I was going off your post that the site said they would.

Just give a retailer a call and ask what will fit.

So i was thinking what you guys thought about me running 17x7 xxr 962s up front with a et of 40 and then 17x9xxr 962s with a et of 35 in the rear? Any thoughts or comments about this wheel setup?
