Now, I have a rather newbie question, so please bear with me:
I measured the wheels lip to lip. The fronts measure 10 inches from lip to lip. The rears measure 11 inches from lip to lip. It normal for the wheels to be 1 inch wider like that?
...right, but it is the inner lip of the wheel that will define how much clearance there will be on the shock once the whee is mounted. I guess I've been worried that the wheels won't clear the suspension components. So that's how I made the mistake of measuring from lip edge to lip edge, I guess.
I drove to Tirerack last weekend to get the LM5s wrapped in some Michelin PSSS. While I was waiting for them to mount the tires, the Chicago Audi Club showed up for an AutoX event. I signed up on the spot and I have the christened the brand new wheels and tires right on the spot. I literally rolled out of the tirerack dock onto the their testing track. Fantastic experience!
I love the new look! I really like meaty tires on nice wheels that sit flush with the fenders. Did a quick car wash today so I took some pics and I did a time lapse video:
