  • borbet type A questions

alright i should be getting my type A's next week-ish if all goes well. i've got a few questions:
first and foremost, these wheels are coming without center caps. i have sourced some hex caps, but they were off a set of 16" borbets and mine are 17". will these caps work? from what i've found they should work, just would like to hear some more opinions on this subjet.
second, i've scrapped the idea of going with white. maybe if my car was another color besides black i would do it, but the more i think about the more i think that it would look goofy. i'm just going with silver. however i was thinking about solid silver, lips and all. since my rears are 17x10 et20 they have a pretty deep lip.
i came across this picture and started pondering polishing the lips, thoughts?

let me know what you guys think!

I like that. Polished lips and silver faces looks good on just about any wheel, in my opinion.

And it looks a bit more flashy?(don't want to use the word "bling") Which would make them look better on a merc... I'm guessing that's what you'll be putting them on?

Normal Borbet A's are a bit.. dull, but not in a bad way

Caps fit 15/16/17's, and polish them lips!

As BADwayz said, the caps are suitable for the 3 sizes.

As for polishing the lips, can this be done easily without the need to repaint/clear the centres? I just got my set of A's and don't mind the machined lip, but think polished looks better. However with the whole wheel being cleared, can the clear be stripped and the lip polished without any issues?

^^ I dont understand the question about this?

Can you sand the lips only and then polish them? Why not. Can you chemically strip just the lips and then sand and polish? Why not. Both ways will be a matter of being very careful to not touch the faces, but anything CAN be done. Or do you mean something else?

No, that's more or less what I meant. Of course you have to be careful, but I just wanted to know if this is the way people have gone about it, or have they just polished themselves or had them polished professionally with the intention of repainting the faces anyway. You'd have to be very careful and very neat and precise to get it evenly polished right up to the edge of the face/spokes.
