  • Change offset - is it possible?

    hi all. is it possible to change offset? my issue is im sure and everyday issue for SW people. fender arches eating into tyres.

    spoken to a mag shop.... they said they can machine a few mm from the back of my mag and this should help. any ideas????

    essentially the mag would sit deeper under the arches.

    is that safe?

    yup, its done a lot before.

    ive seen people take off 15mm off back pads without an issue.

    you could try getting some more camber and be done with it.

      true re: negative camber. then im sure its uneven tyre wear eish..... you just cant win! the look is ultimate though! will try a combination of both. some mm off and some camber. the fender liners must go though isnt?

        Camber doesn't eat tyre wear as much as people say. Its toe that's the problem. Just mix and match.

            well . . this depends A LOT(!!) on what wheel it is and how the center and the lug-nut holes are . . sometimes the center part is thick and could easily be machined . . but the holes are drilled far in, so in the end the thickness of the actuel part where it holds the wheel ist not enough to be machined
            . . also watch out that you don't end up with too little room for your brakes, so not that you have to run spacers again in the end . . .
            my Bimmers . . . -> HERE!! <-

              point taken. will the wheel studs need shortening as well? what would you recommend?

                Unless you're running adapters, the wheel studs won't need to be shortened.

                I would say try to add some camber, as mentioned above, before you shave down the back of your wheel. As long as your toe is set to 0, camber doesn't wear down tires as bad as people think.
                And yes, I would remove your fender liners as well.
