  • Fixing Wheels Advice

Hi everyone, a while back one of my wheels tipped over face down on the concrete and got slightly pitted.

I'm going to be getting the wheels powder coated soon and wanted to fix the damage. I'm not sure if the damage is shallow enough to be sanded out or if I should fill it with something then sand afterwords.

The damage goes pretty much around the entire wheel, it is not just in the areas photographed. Pictures posted are to give an idea of the severity (or lack thereof) of the damage.

I have zero experience repairing wheels and would love some advice.

    Thanks in advance

The biggest problem I see are those machining lines on the lip... You will be sanding them off.

the entire wheel is getting powder coated, not just the centers

I think those little lines will still show up after powdercoat.

So if you sand and repair those nicks, you will have flat areas with no machining lines.

You can sand all of those lines off all 4 wheels... would take days.

anyone have thoughts on sanding the surface, but not getting to the pit. filling it with aluminum filler. sanding it flat again?

I wouldn't do that. Just sand it all off with like 120/220.
