Convert BBS RS 16" to 17"?

Sorry if this gets asked often, but is it as simple as just finding the right set of 17" lips and barrels to convert a set of 16" BBS RS wheels into 17" wheels? I've googled and used the search function on this forum but I've read it can be done but you have to find early 17" lips.

It seems nobody wants to make a 245/16 in good rubber anymore.

You can get 245/35-16 in good makes.

Also it depends on what size of the center you have. You can convert the 16 into 17 using some parts of the small centered 17" wheels.

There are two types of 17inch wheels. the first one that came out they were build up by using "small" centers (don't quote me on this, but i think they are 12.3") also used on 16" wheels. Later on they made 17" wheels using the "big" center wheels. (again don't quote me on this, but i think they are 13").

Tho im not 100% sure if the 16inch wheels use this small centers (smaller then the small 17" centers) and big centers (as used on the 17" small centered wheels) as well. I know that people just use to call the parts by the number of bolt holes. (30bolt holes and 34holes.)
So if you find 17" parts for small centered wheels then you can convert them.

Or call rotiform they got everything you need.

That makes all kinds of sense, thanks a bunch! I did some googling based on what you said and found confirmation about the 34 hole 17" wheels. The info I found said the later 17" wheels are 35 hole. Now I just need to find some rare 17" 34 hole parts, or a pair of wheels I can swap centers with.

well, double check if you have 30 or 34 centered 16" wheels. good luck with your project

They're 34 hole, marked as made in Germany which I assume means they're made after the fall of the Berlin wall.

I have lips you could use to convert a pair of 16 inch 34 bolt centers into 17s. There are a pair of barrels for sale in the wheel section for a full set.
