  • Torque Rating On 3 Piece AMG/OZ's

hey I've searched on google and stuff and roughly found that the correct torque specs for the bolts on the OZ/AMG's are 24lbs (the 35 bolts holding the wheel together, not the lug bolts holding them onto the car). Does anyone know if this is right? I know that the face cracking is tied to over tightening the bolts on the wheels so I don't want to over tighten them. Thanks.

I tightened my AC Schnitzer to 35nm, they are made by OZ. Racing just like the AMG's.

normal specs are around 22-25 ft/lbs, 33-34 Nm

youre pretty good with a hard hand tighten, id say 95% of people dont use torque wrenches in my experience.

ive never seen anything bad from it besides a kinda loose bolt after the season but for what its worth i torque everything to spec that i can

        i do 24lbs on 17" OZ's

I have never heard of a bolt loosing, thought everyone used loctit to prevent that.
only bad thing i have heard of over tightening them is that they will snap due to the stress on them when you are gonna go for a ride.

thats when hand tightened that they get loose after a few thousand miles, that doesn't happen when torqued to spec. they dont get loose enough to fall out but loose enough to un bolt just holding the socket w/o a wrench.

neither me nor my friends use loctite, i could see the benefit but imo its not necessary when using correct tq specs

Loctite is such a prick to take off, I will always torque to spec because it's so much nicer to take off, plus no worries that you're bolts will fall out, or you'll strip them. It's just a good habit to get into imo.

this is the first time I've heard of using loctite for the wheel bolts, so I don't wanna screw anything up, so I'm not gonna use loctite lol. I mean, I would just do hand tight. But two things.

                1. I have a torque wrench handy
                2. These AMG/OZ's are notorious for the faces getting stress fractures because of over tightening, so I'm afraid that if I do hand tighten without a torque wrench I may over tighten them (cause I'm fucking ripped ) and ruin the wheels.

But yeah, I'll torque them to 24.
