BMW 3.0 CS E9 BBS RS fitment

My mate just picked up a nice 3.0 cs and wants to run some bbs rs on it, probably 17". What width and offset would he need to look at getting so that it has nice fitment - nothing too crazy? The previous owner thought 17x7.5 front and 17x8.5 rear would fit but had no idea on the offset. Any help would be great.

Ask m.burroughs what his RS wheel specs were on his e9, that should give you an idea on offsets/widths and exact look you're going for (- being an inch larger in diameter)
