  • Question on fixing damage to splits

I just got some lips. Despite selling refinished wheels at premium price, I suspected the PO might be an amateur and I was right. The PO decided that the best way to fix a small bend was to SAND the inside of the bend. The bend is still there but if I straighten it, the inside of the bend will be missing metal. So here's the question:

Can I have someone weld aluminum to the lip to give me more metal to sand down? If I do this, will the repaired area match the rest of the aluminum? Lip is BBS if that matters.

I think it's going to come down to whoever does the welding, because I've seen it go both ways. btw, is the FSU in your name for Florida State or something else?

Thanks. I may take the chance and just chrome them if it is noticeable. Yes, on the question.

Is this an exotic/rare set or are the lips readily available? Can you post pics?
