    i might buy a used set soon and reverse mount myself so I'll need to double check that.
    mine were reverse mounted without any machining. I have the faces sitting in my room. both the front and back side of the mounting pad are flat, and the face extends past the mounting pad on both the front and back side in order to keep the weight off of the bolts and have structure, even when reverse mounted.
