E36 M3 Fitment Help...

im on tcklines with vorshlag camber plates bottomed out. i was on style 5's which were a 17x8 +20 with 8mm spacers so a total of a +12 offset running 215/40/17r and 205/40/17f federals (they run wide) and i just had a standard roll... i had no rubbing or anything with that set up, could even haul through the corners with no problems.

It helps a lot after seeing your car... lets me know that I can go much lower on TCKs. Now I just have to figure out which wheels I want. BBS RX 17x8et10, Borbet Type C 17x8.5et13, Enkei 92s 16x9et10, or something special from fifteen52

yea with a 205/40/17 on there my frame rails were only like 1.75inches off the ground.

and since they are bottomed out from what everybody was saying id be riding bump stops so i cut them in half in the front. the car still rides nicely and handles well!

out of the wheels you listed i personally would go with the bbs rx's but if you can afford the fifteen52's that would be cool too!

Haha yea i remember everyone on bimmerforums being a dick about your car's handling... And yea I like the bbs rx, but I would have to wait til January for them.

yea. those guys believe way to much of what the hear and read. some guy tried to tell me its impossible for my car to have nice ride quality at that height and was trying really hard to prove it (said he even talked to a guy a tckline) even though i drive the car everyday so i know first hand how my car rides, which still to this day not even a girl has complained. the kicker is the guy has never even had tcklines lol.

One more question... Would my car need to be realigned every time I switch from the stance setup to the track/summer kosei setup?

The stance setup will consist of 205/40/17 vs the track setup of 245/40/17, so does the different diameter and different offset necessitate another alignment?

no. new suspension/ride height change is where you need to re-align your car. but changing wheels/tire size has no effect.

but if youre going for stance and bottoming out your suspension your probably going to want to raise it for the track or any hard driving which would require an alignment.

Well wouldn't ride hide change because the tires are different diameters by over 1".

he means adjusting your coils to change height (thus changing suspension geometry) would need a new alignment.

just changing wheels does not affect alignment specs.

Alright so I finally bought a set of wheels 18x8.5 et14 front (easy to fit) and 18x10 et19 rear. What exactly do I need to do as far as tire size for the rear? I'll be running federals in whatever size I buy and was hoping to keep my track alignment of -2 degrees camber in the rear. I was thinking 225/40/18 unless that will require a lot more fender work than a 225/35/18

federals run big. i highly recommend you dont get them at all. ive already had a bad pair on me bubble on my way to vegas. not fun... try falken or other brands in a 225/35.

225/35 falkens look too stretched for me...

You will need to get such a small tire, unless you ditch the idea of keeping -2degrees of camber. Or some more fender work.
