  • E28... 16" or 17" wheels?

hey guys, i'm sort of new here. I have an 85 535i and I just started working on it (I was at h20 for those that were there).

i'm looking to get some wheels, right now i'm rocking 16x8 RZ's off of an E38. Tire size 205/55/16s (balloons)

I can't decide between 16" or 17" wheels... I found a set of 16" work equips I really want but I am worried that 16's are just too small for my car. Equips are one of my favorite wheels ever, I just don't know if I should wait for 17" wheels"

I am currently on bav auto springs/ Billies, one coil cut out of the front. I might go a little lower up front but school in NYC sucks as far as roads go.

any opinions? any pics of 16's vs. 17's with moderate lowering like my car?

17's for show and go. 16s for just go. 17s really look the best on E28s.

16 will ride better on an E28 than 17.

It's up to you if you're wiling to sacrifices performance for looks, but if you're already complaining about harsh roads at school, then skip the idea of 17s.

But ultimately it's up to you, I know this is a "stance" forum so you'll have to draw your own line at drive ability and looking good.

Personally, I think 16s suit the age of the car better. That's my vote.

i think I have decided on some 17". deciding what offsets to go with on a 17x9.5 all around, looking to run a 225/45 most likely. thinking about +11 all around? any input?

it all depends on that how low you wanna go... and you can see some slammed e28 on 17's and you'll find you answer.

true. i'm not going to be slammed like some of the cars on here, but I'm going to go low. i'm not looking to tuck the wheels. As I said in my original post, I am on bavauto springs with one coil cut from the front. I also have the stock springs available to mess with. A skidplate is definitely coming in the future but for now I have to be careful/mindful of the shitty NY roads.

Yeah, like I said I decided on some 17x9.5 but trying to figure out offsets. Thinking +11 all around on a 225/45 just want to make the right choice.
