  • E36 Size ?

Okay guys, I'm new here but have been lurking for awhile. I just picked up a '98 M3. My first things for her are going to be suspension, brakes, and wheels. I've pretty much decided that I want to do aggressive fitment PG1s, Futuras, or Hartge Design C. I'm leaning towards the Hartge's because its always been one of my favorite wheels. My question is should I do them in 17" or 18" on the E36. I've been searching all over and it looks like most people run 17". But a lot of the pics I see don't have wheel sizes on them. I'm curious to hear your guys opinion and why.

I'm new to the whole "split rim" thing so any help would be appreciated, people on the other enthusiast forums seem somewhat less than helpful....trust me for the last 3 weeks all I've done is search on these forums. Anyways feels good to be a part of the group, hope to meet some of you soon.

    Thanks guys

    Pics are always welcome too

I'm going low thats for sure. I told myself along time ago that when I had my e36 it was gonna get dropped. That actually leads me to another question....are the stanceworks coilovers still for sale? I thought originally they were going to be limited production only but I saw that VAC Motorsports had them listed on their website. That would be the way I would want to go. Thanks guys

sw coils are not on sale. only about 20units in the world.

          i would def go with 17x8.5et10ish & 17x10et20ish.
          on the 10 i would run a 215/40, on the front of a non M thats before 97 i would run a 195/40.
tho you got the 97+ (the spindles change on that model, have more camber) you should clear the 205/40 with out camber plates.
look at my e36 build v3, link in sig to see the 17x10 on the rear, you could also check the build v2, you can see a 17x9 et22 on the rear with a 205/40, its the same as a a 8.5 with 195/40.
and lastly you can also check the build thread v1 i got 18x8.5 all around, et 18 in the front and 13 in the rear. with 215/35.
also you can swap your left top mount on the right side and visa versa, to gain more camber.

Yeah I went back and looked on VAC's website. They say "Stance Coilovers" but when you click on the description they are actually GC coilovers. Your V3 build is awesome man....I was actually looking at it before I started this thread. I kept looking to see the sizes on your type 1s. I think I'm definitely gonna go with a 17' wheel in the sizes and offsets you mentioned. Your look and fitment thus far is exactly what I'm looking for. I've had my car two weeks and I am in total love with it. Well I guess I'm gonna have to start doing some more research on what coils I want.

ive had mine for 3weeks now
I heard GC is a good brand, you can chose the spring rates etc.
I had KW v1 on my green sedan, loved them. To maybe were a little to soft, if i could not get SW:ZCC i would def go with KW v2.

Good luck with your project mate.
