  • E36 tyre size for 16x9&8

    Hello,

I'm a long time reader, first time poster and I need a help with my E36.
I'm about to buy a set of BBS RS's 16x9&8 ET in front 8mm and at the back 0mm and I need help to choose what tyres are right, I was thinking maybe 195/40x16 at back but what in front?
I have no idea how the wheels are going to fit but should be good because my current setup, replica RS's (17x9&8 ET's 35), is ok.
So what do you guys think?
I want to go low, i'm currenty riding way too high because I got my tyres for free and they are 235/45x17 .
I'll make and intro thread as soon as my car is StanceWorks worthy.

    -Akrapovic

Edit: After a google search I found some pic's of 16x9 with 205/40 and they look pretty nice, so what you guys think 195/40 in front and 205/40 at back, anyone has some pictures?

With 195/40s you will have LOTS of wheelgap, even if you car is sitting on the ground.

How about 195/45 in front and 205/40 at back?

        To give you an idea:

        Fronts:
        9x16 ET8
        215/40/16

        Rears:
        10x16 ET11
        254/35/16

        215/40/16s, iirc. I think they're 9 or 9.5x16s

Pulling off 16s on an E36 is incredibly hard because the wheels look very small in the wheel arches. The only way to really make them pop is if they're silly wide with heavy low offsets.

To be honest, I wouldn't take those 8 and 9 x 16s, but rather look for a wider set, if you really want to rock 16s.

If you're open to different choices, some 8 and 9 x 17s with 205/40 and 215/40 or even 195/40 and 205/40 would be nice as well and give you plenty low already.

          Well I can't afford 17" and i tought 0mm is low offset

Woohey, those are 9x16 and 10x16! From your original post I gathered they would be 8x16 and 9x16. With those widts and offsets, this has the potential to be quite awesome.

In that case, the two examples I posted up should give you a good starting point in tire sizes.

I think 195/45 on the 9s and 225/40 on the 10s would be the best bet.

You'll need some fender modifications, they'll need to be pulled for sure, at least in the rear, but with enough stretch and camber you may be able to keep the necessary work down to reasonable amounts.

Yeah, you need something wider like 9 & 10 to stretch something that will still be big enough to close your gap a bit. So if the wheels aren't 8/9 like you said, then you might be in business.

215/40 in the front and 225/40 in the rear would be pretty decent. The reason I say 225/40 in the rear is so you can lower the rear more than that purple example, thusly reducing the godawful E36 rake.

That purple example is running 215/40s all around, so your suggestion would make for even more rake.

                  And E36s need rake.

Well funny thing that he said on the ad sales post they are 9&10 but when I called him he said they are 8&9...
I test fitted them today, ill upload some pictures from my phone.
They actually look pretty nice even thought they are 8&9.

Here are the pictures, you can see my Privat replica Rs's on the fender

I couldn't get a good shot from the front but they will be needing 5-10mm spacer to get on the same level as back is.
They are not bad even thought they are 8&9, right?..

it might well be 8j & 9j. because the 211 have really narrow barrels (assuming they are based of the 211 model)
