  • Fancy smancy lug nuts

I've been running normal steel, open ended acorns or chrome acorns for as long as I've owned cars, but I'm ready to drop about a hunsky on a set of something a little fancier.

I like the sound of all this lightweight, forged stuff and of course I want something pretty but I'm a lot more concerned about quality than how bright the anodizing is. I'm running stock wheelstuds right now but I'd like the flexibility of an open ended nut in case I ever move up to an extended stud. I don't want any "tuner lugs" or anything wacky like that, maybe locks in the future.

So what do you guys recommend for a quality lug nut that isn't $300 a set?

Sorry for the ignorance of this thread, I just need a little lugnut edjamacation.

So you want quality, but want it cheap...

    Makes sense.

Anything short of the aftermarket forged lugnuts already mentioned(blox & DE) will likely be dramatically more expensive. (but so worth it IMO. )

Honestly after looking over your vehicles the $300 would be better spent on lighter wheels first, lug nuts are really only an upgrade if you've already shaved pounds off your unsprung weight and "want/have the budget for" a few more ounces.

What do you mean you don't want "tuner" lug nuts.

What does that even mean? What do you think a lug nut should look like?

I bought a set of 1.5" long Anodized blue lugnuts from Gorilla for my project. They also made silver, black, and red. You can find a fuckton of lugnut ideas/items available so long as you know your thread and length needed.

Whether locking, tuner or standard, black, red, blue or chrome, Summit Racing carries lug nuts that will give your wheels the desired look.

When I bought my lugnuts they had lugnuts specifically labeled "TUNER" style.

              They all look like this:

"Tuner" lug nuts typically require a "key" to remove so they are like a combination of lock and lug nut. They also typically fit into very narrow lug bores and are required for some aftermarket wheels.

some redrills also require "tuner" style because they are narrower, as bimmerteck stated.

This is what I bought and I love them. Paint hasn't chipped or scratched after taking the wheels off 2x

These huge ones tend to be very popular here from what I've seen

Lug nuts for you F150 and lug nuts for a sports car are entirely different animals. The lug nuts you've shown from summit are specifically made for use with aftermarket aluminum/magnesium racing wheels such as those from Weld Racing or Cragar mounted to domestic vehicles. Performance lug nuts for most imports and sports cars are designed very differently.

Wouldnt quite call lugnuts for a Toyota MR2 "performance" but okay. Hence why I'm suggesting cheaper lugnuts. Also the lugnuts for sell on Summit are for all cars, they have the thread patterns for everything from Ferrari to a Ford, not just for domestics. I linked to all the lugnuts for sell there and did not specify a vehicle or thread pattern. I'm letting him do that if he wants. Its not European so he doesnt need stud lugnuts or anything, normal ones will do fine.

As much as I disliketo mention this website, just go to Password JDM and get some Blox lug nuts. They're cheap, and decent quality for what you're wanting them for.
