  • Style 32s

    I recently just bought some style 32s and the sizes are 17x7.5 for the front and 17x8.5 in the rear. I am new to stretching tires and am not sure what size tire to get in order to do so. I do not want too much stretch but I do want a little. If someone could explain the sizing or what size would be best for this it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    assuming those are oem style 32s, then they are very high in offset...in the 40s. your stretch will depend on how much clearance you will need to clear the fender. your best bet is http://www.tyrestretch.com/ to get an idea of how a certain tire size stretches and then use spacers accordingly.
    honestly, id ditch those wheels and get style 32s of 5 series offset and width.

      They were the only ones I could find but is that offset going to kill me with a small stretch and some spacers? This is a dumb question but on the coilovers website it says offset should not exceed 25, but these are 40?
      Thank you for the help

        if you have an e36, i'm sure you are familiar with bimmerforums. i see style 32s sold there all the time. they are quite common. sure you could use spacers and those wheels, but i was just suggesting that you would be better off starting off with 5 series offsets. you can probably put together a nice set of 9" et26 all around which would be great on the e36. you are going to need some huge spacers to get a nice flush look with the current wheels. +20mm is where you want to start with those sizes, and getting there will require you to use 25mm spacers.

        find the style 32 wheels and click it. you will see all the sizes available and the offset of the ones you have.

          So basically the only difference in the style 32s that I have are the amount of spacing that I am going to need to use? I have heard different things on spacers and tearing up bearings but if that is not true to a certain extent I have no problem running the spacers. Thanks again for all the help and sorry for all of the dumb questions!

            You have the OEM fit style 32s, which you have probably already realised.

            You will more than likely want a 20mm spacer minimum. Otherwise just stick on the standard 225 / 255 tyres so you don't look a fool lol

                  If I ran a 20 mm spacer up front and a 25 mm spacer in the rear with 40mm offset on my wheels along with coilovers would i run into any problems daily driving it?

                    As previously stated, sure you can do that. will it affect bearing life? probably not noticably.

                    I have staggered 5 series style 32's that i threw on after installing my new suspension to get things dialed in and they look great to be honest. i similarly have an extra set of z3/E36 style 32's that came with my M3 bc the DS2 wheels had bald tires. You cannot even compare the style 32's off a 5 series and style 32 from z3/e36. yes the design is the same but the offset/width is everything.

                      7,5 -> 195/40s or 205/40s
                      8,5 -> 205/40s or 2150/40s

                      if youre aiming for looks
